Hello,
I am a visual artist living in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from College Misericordia,
Dallas, Pa. While studying there I was able to explore various two
dimensional and three dimensional mediums.
After graduating I worked primarily in pencil. I feel that
these studies in black and white helped to create a strong base in
understanding color. A few years later I began to work in egg tempra. I now mostly work in
acrylic.
My work reflects settings- time, place, and moods. I want my work
to evoke feelings and tell a story. Women have always been my favorite subject. I think that this is due to
the influence of Charles Dana Gibson. Although his works are pen

and ink, his use of this medium left me with the impression of color. I also admire the work of Maxfield Parrish. I love his use of color; it
is most luminous.
I began to paint on slate after the slate roof on my house was replaced.
I had seen stenciling done on slate and I now had a stack of slates in my
basement. I decided that I could skip the step of making a stencil and
simply paint freehand. Without the constraints of a stencil, I quickly moved
beyond the "stenciled slate" look and into a style of painting that
approached my work in egg tempra and acrylic. It has been described as being somewhat of a cross
between fine art and craft. I now call it "Art for Outdoors".
Slate is a native material of Northeastern Pennsylvania, so it is only appropriate that I make use of it.
I began doing crafts as an outlet for a need to create in three dimensions.
I love the interplay of various textures against one another.
